"Few things in life are as rewarding, or as challenging, as public service. I believe that public service is all about giving time, practicing patience, and taking responsibility for making the community better for all people. Public service is also about working towards a common goal, even in the midst of disagreement. After serving on City Council, I know there is still work to be done to improve our neighborhoods. I want to be a part of that work. One of my priorities is to help build a sense of pride in our City, with every neighborhood working together as one community."

Jose Urdaneta - City Council Candidate

Jose Urdaneta | City Council

"As a City Council member, my main focus has been on ways to improve the quality of life in the City we call home, while promoting economic development. Working with the mayor's administration and my colleagues in city council we were able to alleviate some of the problems that were affecting our neighborhoods by introducing and passing important resolutions that are bringing accountability in addressing problems like trash, litter, noise, abandoned properties, and negligent property owners. We have also seen our city flourish with economic development opportunities that are bringing new job opportunities for our citizens and that are transforming the face and the future of our beloved city. I will continue the work we have started to make sure all neighborhoods in Lancaster City are safe, clean, and attractive places to live. And I will continue listening to my constituents, and making sure I provide a voice for them. I am prepared to continue providing my leadership and my experience to serve the entire Lancaster community."

Tim Roschel - City Council Candidate

Tim Roschel | City Council

"Cooperation among City Council members, combined with a good working relationship with the Mayor, has produced significant results for City residents. Issues have been met with reasoned debate, and pragmatic solutions have been achieved. I look forward to further implementing our new Park and Open Space plans and continuing our focus on neighborhood issues. Gauging the impact of the new Rental Property ordinance and the Property Violation Ticket program will be key in determining how we address quality of life issues in our neighborhoods. With the help of residents, we've been able to develop revitalization plans for the Northeast and Southwest quadrants. Implementing these plans will be a challenge that I welcome and that I'll pursue."

Todd E. Smith - City Council Candidate

Todd E. Smith | City Council

"I enlisted in the Army Reserves while a student at East Carolina University, and entered the surgical technology program at Fort Sam Houston in Texas. I continued training at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and, as a surgical technician, helped treat victims of the 9/11 attack on the Pentagon. After being released from active duty and graduating from college, I attended law school in New York City. During my second year of law school, I became a father for the first time. My family and I returned to Lancaster and soon after, my second daughter arrived. Now, we have a three-year-old and a one-year old. I believe that we need honest, hard-working people in local government with no set agenda and the courage to do what's right, not what's always popular. My intentions are genuine. We have to do everything we can to keep the City a safe, clean, and affordable place for young families to live and work. I'm asking to represent City residents the way they want to be represented: by listening to their concerns, working to address these concerns, and holding myself accountable to produce results."
